Our school history

Concord West beginnings

Concord West Public School was established in 1929 and and has been serving the local community for 96 years. The school opened on 1 November 1929 with an initial enrolment of 220 students and included six classrooms, an assembly room and a staffroom. By 1933 the enrolments had grown to 373, a growth which reflected the rapidly expanding area of Sydney's Inner West.

The original school building

The original 1929 building (now known as Block A) is a  heritage listed building  maintained by Schools Infrastructure NSW. The original building is still used for teaching and also houses the school library.

There have been many additions to the school since 1929. During the 2007-2009 Building the Education Revolution, Concord West underwent several phases of modernisation and renovation, including the addition of new classrooms and upgraded facilities.
